How to Configure Volumio to Support HiFi DAC?

TennesseeTitansJerseys PIFI DAC expansion board (PiFi DAC +) is dedicated for Raspberry Pi 2B/3/B +, which features TI's higher-end DAC chip (PCM5122), I2S interface(non-USB interface). It supports volume controlled by hardware (the old DAC uses PCM5102A chip hardware, which can not support volume controlled by hardware). With this extension board, users can use it with audio playback system (eg: volumio, xbmc system, etc.) to build their own network HIFI player.

This tutorial will show you how to configure volumio to support HiFi DAC.

Preparation TennesseeTitansJerseys com

Firstly, download volumio from the volumio official website for your platform and install in PC. Then follow the below instructions from Volumio official website.

Flash it

♦Once download has finished, you’ll have a zip file
♦Extract the downloaded zip file and you’ll have a .img image file
♦Download and extract Win32DiskImager
♦Open Win32DiskImager, right-clicking on the file, and select “Run as Administrator” .
♦Insert the MicroSD Card on your computer, you could use an external card reader or the SD slot if your computer has one.
♦Check that the device name correspond to the microSD card, then browse the files and select choose the image file you want to write.
♦To be safe, unplug every External USB Drive you may have connected to your PC
♦When ready click on Write and wait for the process to complete
♦Exit from Win32DiskImageWriter and eject the SD card
♦Done! Volumio is now on your SD Card!

Prepare it:

♦Insert the SD Card into the Device
♦Plug the Ethernet Cable
♦Connect the USB DAC, otherwise plug your Audio connection of choice
♦Connect your USB Hard Drive, if any
♦Connect any other device you may want to use (USB HUB, Wi-Fi Dongle, etc.)
♦Power the device on Done!

Connect to it:

♦Type volumio.local/ on your Device’s browser (has to be connected to the same Network as Volumio)
♦If you can’t connect to Volumio, just install this or type his IP address
♦Ready! You are now using Volumio’s WebUi. From here you can configure it and control music playback

Configuration

It is very simple to configure Volumio to support HiFi DAC.

1.Select a driver for DAC, click apply.

2.Reboot Raspberry PI.

3.Insert a usb flash disk that have audio files into Raspberry PI, and select update library. Then you will be able to use this system to play audio files.
