Opensource Arduino LC Meter Prototyping

IEMP DDS signal generator is finished and in BETA test. So we start another open source simple tool project now, we are going to build a low cost and high performance LC meter, to measure the capacitance and inductance of the device under test. Some same feature as OverLoad and IEMPNokia 5110 LCD display ; based on Arduino, open source hardware and software ; rotary encoder for menu selection.

Here are some initial parameters, but the final spec will be determined in the commissioning.
  1. Capacitance Accuracy: 5% (0.01pF – 1pF) ; 1% (1pF – 1uF) ; 5% (1uF – 100mF);
  2. Small capacitance resolution: 0.01pF
  3. Large capacitance resolution: 0.01uF
  4. Inductance Accuracy: 5% (0.001uH – 1uH) ; 1% (1uH – 100mH); 1% (100mH – 1H) ; 5% (1H – 100H);
  5. small inductance resolution: 0.001uH
  6. Large inductance resolution: 0.001mH
  7. Measuring frequency: about 500kHz in small capacitance and inductance measuring ; about 500Hz in large inductance measuring
  8. power supply : 7-12V
