Weather Station: Use Nextion 4.3″ with Wboard

Note: Please read the updated tutorial here: Nextion Weather Station Tutorial

We use Nextion 4.3" and Wboard Pro to make a weather station. Using this station, you can check any city by typing city's name in the input bar. The weather information is provided by Weather Underground server.

PS: WBoard Pro is a Wifi development board based on Arduino MEGA. With an on-board ESP8266 chip (WiFi firmware has been burnt in), you can drive ESP8266 to connect WiFi and visit the internet by controlling the serial ports.

Hardware:

Hardware Connection

Just connect the LCD with Wboard Pro in the following pins.

GND – GND

VCC – VCC

TX – RX

RX –TX

Library we need:

Weather station Nextion HMI file:https://cdn.itead.cc/media/blog/mirror/en/uploads/2015/05/weather.zip

Weather station Nextion code:https://cdn.itead.cc/media/blog/mirror/en/uploads/2015/08/weathercode.zip

ESP8266 AT library: https://github.com/itead/ITEADLIB_Arduino_WeeESP8266

Timer: https://github.com/JChristensen/Timer#installation

Remember to extract them into your Arduino Library folder.

Nextion can definitely work with Raspberry Pi. But Nextion 43" needs an external power supply because the power from Raspberry Pi is not enough. If you use RPI, please download code here: https://cdn.itead.cc/media/blog/mirror/en/uploads/2015/04/Nextion-Raspberry-Pi-code.rar

At last, we will show you some pictures that we designed in Nextion Editor.
