How to Generate .stl File?

Alibre

File->Export->Save As(select STL)->Enter File Name->Save

AutoCAD

Export model must be 3D object, and coordinate XYZ are positive values. Enter  "Facetres" on the command line->

Set FACETRES a value between 1-10 (1-low accuracy, 10-high accuracy)->Enter command "STLOUT"->Select Object->Select”Y”, export binary file->Select File Name

Export->Stereolithography

I-DEAS

File->Export->Rapid Prototype File->Select Export Model->Select Prototype Device->SLA500.dat->set absolute facet deviation is 0.000395-> Select Binary

Inventor

Save Copy As->Select STL->Select Options, set as high

IronCAD

Right click the model to be exported->Part Properties->Rendering->Set Facet Surface Smoothing as 150-> File-> Export->Select .STL

Use command “AMSTLOUT” to export STL file

Following command line options affect the quality of the STL file, set them to appropriate value to export required files.

1. Angular Tolerance:Set maximum angle difference between adjacent facet, 15 degree by default, reduce the value can improve the accuracy of STL file.

2. Aspect Radio:this parameter controls the triangular facet height/width ratio.

1 means the height of triangular facet does not exceed the width. If set as default value 0, ignore this parameter.

3. Surface Tolerance:control maximum error between triangular facet edge and actual model. If set as 0.0000, this parameter is ignored.

4. Vertex Spacing:control the length of triangular patch edge. If set as default value 0.0000, ignore this value.

ProE

1. File->Export -> Model

2. File->Save a copy->Select .STL

3. Set chord height as 0. Then the value will be automatically set to minimum acceptable value by the system.

4. Set Angle Control as 1

ProE Wildfire

1. File->Save a cop -> Mode->Select file type as STL (*.stl )

2. Set chord height as 0. Then the value will be automatically set to minimum acceptable value by the system.

3. Set Angle Control as 1

Rhino

File->Save As ( save as .STL )

1. File->External->Save STL->select Binary mode->select part->Enter 0.001mm as Max Deviation Distance

Set Conversion Tolerance to 0.001in or 0.0254mm
